    Facing just four foes in a scratched-down field, Touchuponastar and regular rider Tim Thornton set sail for the lead after breaking sharply and beat second choice Hall of Fame to the first turn. Thornton sat stock still as his mount went a half mile in a manageable 47.20. And at the three-eighths pole, Thornton knew he was a winner of Saturday's New Orleans Classic at Fair Grounds.

    Sierra Leone's presence in New Orleans sends rivals running for the exits

    Sierra Leone, not to put too fine a point on it, is among the best horses to run in the New Orleans Classic. Last year's 3-year-old champion was one of 10 entrants in the Grade 2, $400,000 dirt race contested over 1 1/8 miles. His presence has sent several potential rivals running for the exits.
